Cannabis Wall, a popular A3 on The Chief in Squamish, British Columbia, has been freed by the young Will Stanhope, with Jason Kruk following. The pair spent nearly a week cleaning the line before Stanhope freed its committing five pitches (5.12 R, 5.13- R, 5.12, 5.13-, 5.12-) on lead.

Stanhope and Kruk are two of Canada's strongest young climbers; they established two new routes together in Patagonia last season (read the January 30 and February 20, 2008 NewsWires for more information). Stanhope tests gear for the Alpinist Mountain Standards Program.
