As reported in the October 13, 2009 NewsWire and December 15, 2010 Feature, the National Park Service (NPS) is considering raising the fee for climbing permits on Denali and Mt. Foraker from $200 to $500. Additionally, permit fees on Raineer have been raised from $30 to $43. The Access Fund (AF), American Alpine Club (AAC) and American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) have been working in cooperation with the NPS on these fee increases. Recently, members from each organization spoke before a Senate Energy and Natural Resources subcommittee in Washinton, D.C.
