The Line

There exists in the world of skiing a clan of hybrids, misfits who spend their dreams in the world’s most inhospitable and hard-to-reach places. Loosely described as ski mountaineers, they long ago left the confines of the resort and even the relative comforts of the backcountry helicopter to explore the great mountain ranges of the world. From the Himalayas to the Andes, they can be found among high altitude mountaineers and explorers, toting skis to places where most people can’t even imagine climbing. To the ski mountaineer, the summit becomes not the pinnacle of the climb, but the starting gate, the point on a line vertically etched through a sheer mountain wall. This is the story of the pursuit of the “The Line”, the story of a life-long obsession with finding and skiing the most remote, beautiful, and challenging places in the world.
