ALPINIST MAGAZINE ANNOUNCES WAYNE ROBERTS AS PRODUCER OF THE 2007 ALPINIST FILM FESTIVAL

Jackson, Wyoming — January 15, 2007 — Alpinist Magazine announced today that it had hired Wayne Roberts as the producer of the 2007 Alpinist Film Festival. Roberts, who has worked extensively in the New York film industry for the past four years, joins the Alpinist team most recently from South America, where he worked on the set of a feature-length documentary.

In addition to executing the third annual Alpinist Film Festival, which will be held March 15-17 in Jackson, Wyoming, Roberts will also be responsible for the “maturation” of the Festival.

“Not only are my energies dedicated to executing the best Festival yet,” Roberts stated, “but also on creating an overall foundation and framework” into which the Festival can grow.

“Wayne will be a great addition to our team,” said Festival Founder and Director Christian Beckwith. “His experience and aspirations in the film industry are the perfect complement to the Festival as we mature it.” Beckwith, who co-founded Alpinist Magazine in 2002, noted that his goal for The Alpinist Film Festival was the same as for the magazine: to create the premier cinematographic even for the adventure lifestyle community.

With the addition of Roberts, The Alpinist Film Festival will undergo a series of changes and advancements, some of which have already begun. One of the most immediate changes is the implementation of a new submission policy.

“In a matter of days an open submission policy will be available on our website,” said Roberts. Filmmakers from across the world will soon have the opportunity to submit the products of their hard work and passion. Beckwith concurred. “I’m confident that The Alpinist Film Festival will be the starting point for many great talents in the future of adventure filmmaking,” he said.

Beckwith founded the Festival in March 2004 as The Barry Corbet Film Festival. In September 2006 the name was changed to The Alpinist Film Festival to reflect its close ties with Alpinist Magazine. To date, every night of the Festival has sold out.

The 2007 Alpinist Film Festival takes place March 15-17th at The Center for the Arts in Jackson, Wyoming. Tickets will soon be available through The Center for the Arts and can be purchased through their box office and online by visiting the Center’s website at www.jhcenterforthearts.org.
